Sibley Gardens is a family owned independent restaurant located in Trenton, Michigan. We have been open since 1935, and owned by the Piunti family since 1944. My grandfather, Sam Sr., and father, Sam Jr., built our present location in 1949, and ran it until 1955, when he and my grandmother, Mary, pursued other businesses until 1961, when my father and grandmother returned to Sibley Gardens. Now in its third generation, the Piunti family runs it to this day.

At this time, my brother Nick and I handle the day to day operations of the business. Our father, at 74, still works with us on a regular basis, opening the restaurant when he is in town. Our grandmother Mary, was a fixture at Sibleys, overseeing all aspects of the business until her death at 83. Very few independent restaurants make it past the second year. Even more are lost after the fifth year. A restaurant succeeding into its third generation of family operation is quite unusual. I'm proud to say that Sibley's is currently in its 71st year of operation. I credit Sibley's success to our dedication to quality food, a warm friendly atmosphere, a loyal and hard working staff and the almost constant presence of a family member during all aspects of our business day. --Andrea Papp
